So far in Acts we’ve seen Christ conquer Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and even the land of the Philistines through the Message of repentance and forgiveness in His name. Then the door of the Gospel is opened wide for Gentiles to come in. Where will Christ begin His conquest of the Gentile world?

In Acts 11:19 – 12:25, Christ conquers the capitol of Syria, the seat of power for the eastern Roman empire. With this text, we can examine how His message conquered Antioch. When we learn how the Word conquered Antioch, we will have learned how the Word will go about conquering Tampa Bay. For that matter, we will have learned how it will conquer Madagascar, Cuba, Bolivia, or any other place.

If the Word about Christ is going to conquer anywhere it will involve each of us. Each of us has a vital role in the advance of the Gospel in our own community just as the saints of old did. In seeing our own role, we will see the importance of the part each of us plays in Christ’s conquest of the world.
