e4e: evangelism for everyone

"I am convinced that the gift of evangelism is not needed in order for a person to be a faithful witness of Christ. These three areas (availability, prepared and equipped minds, and right motivation) are the critical mix for evangelism and the foundational framework for my understanding for evangelism. Our job description for real life evangelism is to be equipped, available and motivated. Availability is moving our feet. Equipping is training our minds. Motivation is changing our hearts." - J. Mack Stiles, Speaking of Jesus.

The format of this course is designed to address these three areas. We will focus on God's heart for the lost and the cross of Christ as our primary source of motivation. We will discuss what keeps us from being available, and how we can move past that by God's empowering. Finally, it is designed to equip you with the basics for sharing the Gospel with others, and hopefully train you to begin doing just that.

It is important to remember that for all of this we must turn to God in prayer, for none of this is possible apart from a work of His Spirit. If what we are challenged to do in Evangelism doesn't take us out of our comfort zone, it probably isn't Biblically centered, but man centered. God always calls us to do what we cannot do within our own capabilities. Yet, all of this is possible and probable, because "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (Romans 8:32)
