leadership training
The purpose for this group is to help each person to take the next step in serving the Lord at Gulf Coast and fulfilling our mission of planting churches. This does not mean that any leadership position is guaranteed or even to be expected, nor does it in any way obligate you to accept one. The time together is designed to help each person advance in the call that God has for him as an individual, serving the local church and family effectively, and reaching the world.
The format of the group includes a time of fellowship and discussion around different issues that are critical to our growth in God and various theological foundations. We will also be developing relationships within the group; we will have time to discuss personal issues in order to encourage and spur one another on in our walks with God. Attention will be given to learning to lead effectively. Lastly, we will cover our values as a local church and how we apply theology in the lives of those we have the privilege to serve.
Please know that this group will require a commitment. The first commitment is to your care group. This cannot replace care group, but is designed to enable you to effectively serve in your group. Additionally, a commitment to read all the materials prior to our meeting, a commitment to make attending the meetings a very high priority (we make room for the sovereignty of God), a commitment to integrity in accountability with the group are essential. I believe and trust the investment will pay significant returns to you in your walk with God and to serving God's purpose in the earth. We will be meeting approximately twice per month for eleven months.
There will be a significant amount of reading in this group and I ask you to consider carefully if God is calling you to be involved. I will encourage you to read these materials over the course of the 2 weeks between meetings, as a part of your daily disciplines. You will also want to implement a regular devotion of Scripture reading and prayer. Not everyone is in a position to take a class like this. Various different reasons would determine if this is a course for you. Only you know if this would be a grace to you, or a burden.
New Classes begin each year in January. One must have completed the Foundations Series and Bible Doctrine to be involved in this class.
