I’ve heard it said that King David was the “Elvis of the Bible.” He was, no doubt, a prolific songwriter whose songs have captured hearts and given worshippers around the globe words to sing. Psalm 145 is the last of David’s songs and I can’t think of a more appropriate way for the greatest songwriter in the Bible to end things. It’s like his encore to an encore – yes, it’s that good. The psalm gets louder and louder and by the time we reach it’s end you might as well rip the volume knob off! David might have rock star status but he doesn’t want the applause, instead he’s inviting everyone who hears his song to join in – to make it his or her own – and to declare there are no boundaries to God’s greatness.
