How do you make your life matter? How do you make sure that you will make a difference, a positive difference, in the eyes of God and others? I’m not talking about being famous; there are plenty of famous people that contribute nothing of value to the world. I’m talking about being honorable. Honor is based on character and actions.

Our culture seems to be in a state of mass confusion over what matters. It appears that we esteem fame more highly than honor. No, I don’t have any statistics to prove this, or studies which show it, it is simply an observation.

Proverbs 3 begins with a promise for the young son setting out to establish life on his own that if he will not forget the teachings and commandments the father had taught him—none other than the teachings and commandments of God’s Word—then He will have favor and a good name, a good reputation, in the eyes of God and man. If the son builds his life honoring God, God will honor the son in life and eternity.

In this message, we learn how to build our life in such a way that God matters most, and therefore others matter much. And discover why if we do, both in life and eternity, we will matter much to God and others.
