Speaker: Jerry Cisar

I want to invite you to join us in a fresh study of Acts (the book). I must tell you, this will not be a typical series in the book of Acts. I am not saying a typical series in Acts wouldn’t be good; it would be just fine. But that isn’t my goal.

We learned last week that Acts sets out to testify to the authenticity of the Christian faith as the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises. We will be exploring how Acts does just this. And we will discover in the process that the Book of Acts reveals a purpose, a meaning for your life, that is rooted in something far more significant than yourself. In fact we will be seeing throughout how we are fulfilling, and called to fulfill, Old Testament prophecies.

Tomorrow we are going to take a fresh look at Acts 1:1-8. And before we are finished, I trust you will see that it is far more than merely a brief introduction to the main event(s) of the book. Acts 1 sets the agenda for the entire book of Acts. It clues us into what this book is about. The more attention we pay here, the more we will get out of the rest of the book! We will start by examining what the apostles were waiting for…and you might be surprised at what we find.
