What We Believe

The Gospel—God’s revelation of Himself in Jesus Christ—is at the center of our values.
Everything the church stands for grows out of the Gospel. This account of the redemption that was achieved by the life and work of Jesus Christ is the focal point of all Scripture and the reason for our hope. The Gospel must always be cherished and never neglected. When the Gospel bears fruit in us, we are conformed to the image of the central character of the Story—Jesus Christ.

Leadership & Staff

Jerry Cisar Elder

Jerry has 33 years of pastoral ministry experience (most of which was good), and has served all but ten of those years as preaching pastor here at Gulf Coast Community Church. Jerry believes in biblical preaching. Most often this takes the form of exposition of a particular text in which he strives to make the point or argument of the text of scripture the point or argument of the sermon. It can also take the form of sermons that preach key ideas across the canon of Scripture or connecting different parts of that canon in biblically informed ways.

Jerry and his wife Donna have been married for 40 years and have four adult children, four sons and daughter in laws, and eight grandchildren. Jerry completed a Masters of Theological Studies through the Distance Learning program at Calvin Seminary (Grand Rapids) in 2020. To read Jerry’s article, The Beatitudes and the Life of the Church, published in Calvin Theological Journal, Volume 57, No. 1, you can request a PDF copy here.

Ryan Carver Elder, Director of CoMission, Director of Student Ministries

Ryan has served as the director of CoMission, our campus outreach ministry since 2011, and also provides oversight for our middle and high school ministries. Joining the elder team of Gulf Coast in 2020, Ryan is passionate about equipping individuals to bring the gospel to every aspect of their lives. He finds immense joy in helping people recognize and utilize their God-given gifts as faithful witnesses in their city. Ryan thrives in team dynamics, strategic planning, disciple-making, and missiology. In his leisure time, you can find him spearfishing, surfing, tending to edible plants in his yard, or engrossed in a captivating book.

Becca and Ryan are proud parents to three children: Grace, Abe, and Judah. As a family, they frequently enjoy camping, kayaking, beach outings, and engaging in board games. They reside near downtown St. Pete and actively participate in the Central Oak Park Community Group which they say is “a group of people brought together by Jesus trying to live like the family they already are because of Jesus”.

Pete Mishler Elder
Pete and his wife Denise joined Gulf Coast Community Church in 1999 and have lead a Community Group and served the church in a number of other ways for most of the time since then. They have three married daughters and a son, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
